Two weeks ago on July 13, an impressive crowd gathered at Benvenuto's in Boynton
Beach to celebrate Joan Lee Feuerstein's 80th birthday. My mom was delighted to
be surrounded by so many friends and family members, especially all the
grandchildren (sadly, her great-granddaughter, Loey, couldn't make it).
Everything went very well; the food was great, my sisters turned the standard
banquet room into a delightful space filled with plants and photos and balloons,
grandson Ben arranged the music, granddaughter Liana hand-made nameplates for
everyone, and there were lots of wonderful speeches.
We are so very
grateful to all those who traveled far and wide to join us: the Schuckman branch
of the family (Jeffrey, Barbara, Stan, Dean, Ilyse), the Markus side of the
family (Sid - Mom's brother, Lois, Renee, Peninah, Leonard and Pat Norry,
Suzanne, Mark and Steven Plastrik) and our dear friend, Marlisa, daughter of Stu
and Ann Brown, two of my parents' oldest friends (Stu introduced my mother and
father at a dance, as he so often reminded us!). And of course the same to
friends and family from Florida.
Before and after the party, we enjoyed
the beach and pool, made sure that all the grandkids spent lots of time
together, strengthening those bonds of the next generation. It was a wonderful
weekend, all around. Thanks for giving us an excuse to gather, Mom!

So....once again, Happy Birthday, Mom! And we wish you many more years
of healthy, happy life, shared with friends and family.
